Announcements…

Welcome back to Joblogz, there will be a few changes to this page over the next few weeks.

Firstly, we’re currently testing a new subscription service on the site, it should appear at the top of the page on the main menu.

As well, expect a greater focus on politics. There will be a selection of articles on the Conservative leadership race, but the usual mix of reviews and variety posts will still make appearances on the site.

I appreciate all the support on JoBlogz so far and can’t wait to keep writing more in the near future.

Wes Anderson: directorial deity or a cinematic car crash?

Is Wes Anderson the creative mastermind critics uphold him to be? Or are his films more baffling than brilliance?

Until recently, I’d never seen a Wes Anderson film. His work had always intrigued me despite not being entirely sure what it was. His directorial career from an outsider’s perspective seems void of criticism in an age where critics are increasingly hard on even the greatest directors of our time. So, I decided to find out why.

Nomadland by Jessica Bruder: Book Review (contains minor spoilers)

The book that inspired Chloé Zhao’s masterpiece is one of the finest pieces of journalism of all time and a work of art in its own right.

“As I write this, they are scattered across the country-” Chloé Zhao’s Oscar-winning, Nomadland is one of my all-time favourite movies, so naturally, when I heard it was based on the nonfiction book by Jessica Bruder, I jumped at the opportunity to read it.

Has Adele broken the vinyl frontier?

Adele asks to go ‘easy on me’ but is she to blame for the global vinyl shortage?

With her new album “30” releasing this Friday, Adele has sparked controversy due to her decision to create 500,000 copies of her new album for vinyl. In a period of drastic vinyl shortages across the globe with some artists having to delay albums up to 6 months to stock vinyl, many regard Adele’s actions as selfish and irresponsible. But are we too quick to judge, and perhaps could Adele’s decision actually have a positive impact on the vinyl sector as a whole?
